Percussionists and Woodwind players especially encouraged. Students considering studying music in college might qualify for work study credit. Congratulations to all the participants at MSBOA High School State Solo & Ensemble on March 27, 2004. Western had a excellent day with 9 First Divisions from 14 events! In addition, the Flute Quintet has been nominated for the Michigan Youth Arts Festival! This is a huge accomplishment for them and would be equivelent to making the state finals in a sport. What happens next for them is still a mystery to me because I have never had a group make it that far before! Also, other soloists may still be selected for Youth Arts in the next several days - we should know by Tuesday. Keep checking back here for more information! Congratulations to all!

Wow! What a performance for our school at Solo & Ensemble Festival! We had 25 events sign up and ALL of them actually performed! (That has got to be a record - nobody cancelled!) Of the 25 events we had 7 "II's" and 18 "I's", with no III's or lower and everyone got a rating! That also has to be some kind of record! I really proud of EVERY PERSON that performed at Solo and Ensemble Festival. You have created a VERY positive impression of Bay City Western. You were great!

STATE Solo & Ensemble Festival will be on Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Central Michigan University. Any event that acheived a First Division rating is qualified to attend. See me THIS WEEK to register.
