WHS Marching Band Awarded Halftime Performance at 2006 Fiesta Bowl

Posted by Mr. H on Apr 01, 2004 - 03:42 AM  •  Filed under: news
In a stunning announcement, The Western High School Band has just been informed that they will have the honor of performing the halftime show for the 2006 Fiesta Bowl at Sun Devil Stadium in Scotsdale, Arizona. The game takes place on January 2, 2006 and will be the National Championship Game for the BCS. (Bowl Championship Series).

I received notice via a letter in the mail today! Since we were looking to perform at a bowl game for our next trip, I had applied on sort of a whim, never figuring we'd make it, but they have accepted us! We'll be the featured performers!

Now we need to figure out how we are going to get there and how we are going to pay for it. WOW!

NEW YORK — Music education should begin with guitars, not xylophones and recorders, if schools want to keep children interested, a music publishing executive says.

"When was the last time someone invited you over to their house to play the recorder?" says Fred S. Anton, CEO of Warner Bros. Publications, a print music publisher that is a subsidiary of the Warner Bros. media conglomerate.

Sometime during the weekend, someone removed the padlock on a door at the old Wilbur Wright trade school on Rosa Parks Boulevard...

Site Pruning

Posted by Mr. H on Dec 21, 2003 - 07:59 AM  •  Filed under: news
Unfortunately, I have had to delete MANY files from the site in the last few hours. I had to do this because I am only allowed to have 300 MB of stuff on the site and we were topping 600 MB (oops). Most of the files I've deleted are in the photo gallery. Photos take up a lot of space (espcially when you have nearly 2000 of them!) so I have had to selectively remove many. I also have removed most of the mp3 files from the site. I have, however, left the BLOB videos from 2003 camp! (at least for now)

ATTENTION SENIORS: Senior Meeting Planned

Posted by StickyD15 on Jul 24, 2003 - 03:11 AM  •  Filed under: news
The final date and time has been set for the senior meeting. It will be tuesday the 29th, six o'clock, at the school. The time was set to better help the guard and drumline seniors attend. The meeting needs to finalize the evening activities (Drew will have the flags for Capture The Flag when we leave for camp) and senior/freshmen buddies.

If those of you who check the website regularly could call around to those who don't it would really help because Drew works every day this week and won't be able to make the calls like he did a few nights ago.
